Train Derails In Nairobi Slum - 22/12/2009

Nairobi - A train transporting cooking oil derailed on Monday in Nairobi's Kibera slum - one of the largest in Africa - and slammed into nearby shacks, killing at least three people, police said.

"Three people have died, their bodies have been pulled out and taken to the mortuary," Nairobi Provincial Police Commander Antony Kibuchi said.

At least four other people were wounded in the accident, he said, adding that operations to rescue people feared trapped in the wreckage were ongoing and that a list of missing persons was being compiled.
