To support our development, we are looking for a: BUYER (4 month contract) Reports to Manager, Material Management Based in Toronto Responsible for performing purchasing activities for assigned commodities and services, including solicitation of quotations, supplier selection, order placement and expediting/follow-up. Assigned commodities include: peripherals, supplies and services. Fabricated metal components, printed circuit boards, personal computers, computer equipment and stationery. Your main responsibilities are: Ø Requests and evaluates quotations from qualified supplies for assigned commodities, selects vendors. Ø Enters purchase order data into MAPICS/Database system to create printed purchase orders. Ø Expedites purchase orders with suppliers and provides status updates to requisitioners. Ø Provides liaison between requisitioner/user and suppliers. Ø Produces inventory re-order report and generates purchase requisitions. Ø Meets with suppliers/potential suppliers as required. Ø Works closely with Manufacturing and Quality Control. Ø Splits, mails and files purchase orders. Ø Works with Comptrollers staff to resolve invoice problems Ideally you have: Ø High school diploma or equivalent. Ø Minimum Level 1 of C.P.P. (Certified Professional Purchaser) designation. Ø Knowledge and understanding of general purchasing practices, legal requirements and corporate policy. Ø Knowledge of SAP is required. Ø Communications skills - verbal and written; must have good negotiating skills. Ø Ability to make decisions quickly and logically. Ø Well organized. Ø PC experience using Word Processing, Spreadsheets and AS400. We offer: Ø An attractive compensation package and benefits.
