Job Description
Description Derby is the lead site for the replacement of PRASA commuter vehicles. To undertake the bid and project execution an engineering centre is being created in South Africa. This role is for the Bombardier Transportation Engineering Centre Manager, who will work with an external engineering organization to deliver the following: Product Engineering: Facilitate local input to the bid technical submission Manage the elicitation of local operating requirements Provide the technical interface with suppliers Provide the technical interface with manufacturing partners Facilitate local input into design reviews Provide manufacturing support Manage vehicle type approval Manage vehicle commissioning and warranty support Technically manage modification control Engineering representative in the project core team Customer Interaction: Technically represent the company and give customer presentations Facilitate customer design reviews Technically manage customer acceptance Engineering Office Management: Resource appropriately with qualified and experienced engineers Manage local design office to undertake production engineering Agree roles and responsibilities with external engineering organization Key Accountabilities: Engineering Centre Management Project Engineering Customer Meetings / Presentations / Design Reviews Qualifications Education required : Essential: Engineering Degree Preferred: Membership of Engineering Council Specialised knowledge: Knowledge of PRASA and Rolling Stock (current vehicles, maintenance, operation) Knowledge of potential manufacturing partners Computer skills required : Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Project
