We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for our Kingston facility. Your Role Under the supervision of the Product Manager the Mechanical Design Engineer will be working to design and develop complex transit related subsystems for revenue and R&D Projects. Work closely with the engineering team to develop concepts and specifications along with detailed drawings and assemblies. Your Challenges Integral part of the design team often making mechanical, electrical or civil recommendations based on experience or analysis. Determines the form, fit & function of the design & incorporates cost-effective & manufacturing concepts into the design. Interprets customer specifications to ensure that the design is compliant. Responsible to make sure that designs are completed per the project schedule. Understands and uses supplier design & manufacturing data to aid in development of the design. Interfaces with engineering, purchasing, manufacturing and outside suppliers as needed. Coordinates, tracks, and managers external design and drafting efforts. Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters. Qualifications Your Experience and Qualifications Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Demonstrated skill in product development with an understanding of manufacturability. Knowledgeable in GD&T. Good understanding of electronic packaging and cooling equipment sizing. Experienced with a solid modeling package such as Catia V5 or Solidworks. AutoCAD (an asset).
