We are looking for a Project Management Director for our Thunder Bay (Ontario) facility.


Your Role

Related to anticipated projects, the Project Director will manage and coordinate all capability, service resources and subcontractor activities required to successfully complete on time obligations on customer contracts. All these activities are conducted with the objective of maximizing the Business Unit and the Division return and customer satisfaction.

The Project Director acts within the boundaries of the contract with the full power of the Division Presidents authority to deliver the object of the contract to the customer and to deliver the targeted margin to Bombardier.

The Project Director will lead the project and cope with the unique challenge of continually focusing on a pro-active management that the functions keeps their delegated budgets, meets their schedules and delivers on their obligations.

To this effect, the Project Director leads the Project Core Team members in the successful completion of their assigned tasks to the required quality within schedule, allocated budgets and scope and with a full project view that encompasses areas outside own division together with the overall impact of the project on Bombardier performance. To this effect, the Project Director has to ensure that all Core Team members have sufficient financial and reporting governance and that all risks and opportunities are properly addressed and mitigated.

The Project Director is responsible to apply the key Project Management Processes and the applicable tools for the implementation, and is accountable for the strict and efficient application thereof.

Your Challenges

Directly and indirectly manage project team, including project managers, project administrators, project engineering, schedulers and other personnel as necessary to execute the project on time and within budget.
Establish and manage schedules, plans and budgets consistent with the proposed project financial goals as required for project management, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, shipment, collections, billings, installation, start-up, training, warranty, documentation, subcontracts, purchases and all other project activities required to achieve positive project results.
Develop and implement plans to improve project results beyond established budgets and results. Monitor, control and report monthly all financial aspects of the project consistent with the contract requirements and established project management procedures to attain established goals.
Monitor, recommend and initiate when necessary, changes to or corrective actions for commercial issues, product design, manufacturing and/or services to assure compliance with contract requirements, and to maintain or improve project performance.
Establish and maintain customer interfaces to promote, monitor and maintain a high level of satisfaction. To the fullest extent possible, anticipate and satisfy the customers needs, while operating within established policies, procedures and commercial guidelines

Qualifications

Your Experience and Qualifications

A minimum of 7 to 10 years of experience, acting as a Project Management Director; experience related the rail industry sector would be consider a strong asset
Bachelors degree in Engineering or in Business Administration recognized by the industry or a specialized industrial training in railway project management, operations and you are an Active member of a recognized association or professional group related to transit/rail engineering
