Job Description
Civil Infrastructure, French Speaking Senior Electrical Engineer, West Africa

We are currently working with one of the leading EPCM organisations in the world and they are actively seeking a French speaking Senior Electrical Engineer for a leading infrastructure project in French Speaking West Africa.



PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITY:

Responsible for the Electrical scope on projects assigned by the Government as a part of Gabon’s infrastructure development program. Responsible for design oversight and engineering support to construction for all electrical building systems to include stadiums and support facilities.

GENERAL DUTIES:

* Provide electrical support during the development of planning studies and other design activities associated with the development of multiple infrastructure development projects. These projects may include roadways, ports, railways, community infrastructure and housing developments, and urban reconstruction. This will require coordination with other engineering design disciplines, design consultants, and other systems.
* Must have sufficient building design experience, experience with producing fully detailed sets of electrical construction documents.
* Must have sufficient experience with supervising a multi-discipline design team, and experience with managing external design consultants.
* Must have a working knowledge of sustainability and its integration into the design and the construction of buildings as well as communities.
* For infrastructure projects and other projects that continue into the Detailed Design Phase, provide oversight of the external design consultant’s work during this process. This will include review and comment on building electrical systems design deliverables packages prepared by consultants for multiple projects of varying levels of complexity.
* During the Detailed Design Phase, coordinate and conduct integrated design reviews with other engineering disciplines as well as other functional departments such as construction.
* Leads the resolution of conflicting design requirements and difficult coordination requirements.
* Provide support to construction during the Construction Phase of the work, including response to RFIs, construction site visits with the external design consultants, and disposition of field change requests.
* Provide support during testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities for each mechanical system.
* Oversee the design consultant’s review of construction shop drawings and material submittals.
* Must have good oral and written communication skills in English and French.
* Prepares for and attends coordination meetings with the external design Consultants, the Government of Gabon as appropriate, contractors, and with external review and approval authorities.
* Prepares letters and manages correspondence as required with external design consultants and other external entities as required.
* Is well experienced with the practices and procedures of International Design Codes and Standards.
* Has good knowledge of current computer applications for engineering and design including appropriate knowledge of CAD (both 2-D and 3-D) and relevant Standard Computer Applications to perform the work.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

* Ideally Degree qualified in a relevant engineering (Electrical Engineering) discipline
* Substantial experience in Electrical Engineering
* MUST BE FLUENT IN FRENCH



REMUNERATION & BENEFITS:



This is a rotation position based on a 8 weeks on 2 weeks off Fly in Fly Out roster. You will also receive an attractive basic salary plus uplift and accommodation in country.
