We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Electrical for our Thunder Bay (ON) facility.



You will direct, organize and supervise all electrical activities related to the planning and elaboration of Methods for the manufacturing and assembly of Trains. Activities may include Plant Maintenance, Technical Services, and Tooling Design & Testing in accordance with established cost effective processes and quality standards in a Safe working environment.



In your role as a Technical Services Manager - Electrical, you will:



Validate, define and scope the total built equipment contract;
Assist in preliminary launch meetings to define scope and time table of contract;
Assign Methods activities such as tooling schedule, plant/station layout requirements, documentation and drawings to appropriate staff in accordance with process and standards, including safety;
Develop bid submittals for new projects including manpower and capital expenditure;
Review and recommend improvement for current processes;
Prepare justification for any major modifications or capital expenditures;
Assist Program Management in the determination of the Build or Buy for electrical sub-assembly and components;
Review all Product Change Request (PCR) , Margin Enhancement Program (MEP) and Bids for cost effective manufacturing;
Coordinate, review and control of contract implementation plans to insure timely delivery of manufacturing documents, tooling, plant layout etc;
Interface with Operations and Engineering as required to resolve issues to minimize impact to production and improve manufacturing processes;
Use BOS and communication process to insure continuous improvement;
Ensure Safety and Environmental preoccupation in all processes according to ISO 9000-1 & OHSAS 18001;
Manage operational budget for related activities and within budget for contract;
Initiate justification for additional expenditures or time;
Plan and review manpower requirements to meet on time delivery of contracts;
Initiate manpower requisition for approval;
Ensure the organizational effectiveness, capabilities and competencies of the workforce to meet the current and future needs;
Create a work culture that excites, engages, develops and motivates employees;
Execute Performance Management Process timely with direct reports.

Qualifications

As our ideal candidate, you possess:



A Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering;
5 years of experience in a management role within a manufacturing engineering function;
Good knowledge of welding techniques;
Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken);
Knowledge of French and Spanish languages (assets).
