Job Details: Train Conductors

Bombardier Transportation in Toronto is currently seeking fully qualified Conductors (Train Operators)

The Conductor (Train Operator) is accountable to ensure that train movements are operated in a safe manner while respecting to the established train schedules with the constant objective of providing the highest quality customer service possible to the population.  The incumbent of this position is also responsible to ensure compliance to all rules and regulations, as well as, local regulations associated with the host railways. 

• Ensure that all train movement activities are performed safely and promptly while providing courteous service to GO Transit's clients in accordance with Good Customer Service, corporate policies, missions, practices, government regulations, Canadian Rail Operating rules and special instructions.
• Operate trains during various work hours and on various routes within a 24/7 transportation environment maintaining alertness, situational awareness and vigilance.
• Adhere to established operating rules, speed restrictions and regulatory requirements: initiate remedial action to eliminate undesirable train operation practices and communicate with traffic control any issues or problems that may hinder the safe operation of the system.
• Complete train performance reports.
• Interfaces regularly with GO Commuter Central and host railways rail traffic control centers, as well as host railway operating officers to ensure the coordination of daily performance of the operations.
• Immediately respond and correct deviations to the operating plan.
• Report and communicate with Maintenance staff in order to correct defects that could affect train performance on the road.

Successful candidates must:

• Possess a valid driver's license
• § Possess a Secondary School diploma or higher
• § Must be able to maintain required level of fitness as outlined in the Canadian Railway Medical Rules Handbook

Experience as a Conductor for a minimum of two years is essential.  Only fully qualified Conductors are being considered at this time and must be willing to be trained further as a Locomotive Engineer.
