Job Description
Description The primary duties of the Transportation CAD Technician/Designer, with occasional assistance from supervisor or others, is to produce drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, and graphic representations of engineering designs using computer-aided design software on transportation projects, which may include roadway, railroad, geotech, and bridge among others. Requires a good working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation, construction documents and technical knowledge. Will perform routine and complex drafting assignments requiring application of standardized drawing techniques and may perform basic quantity and geometry calculations. Work may also entail field investigations and inspections. Keyword(s): CAD, Technician, Drafting, AutoCAD, Microstation, Civil, Drawing, Transportation Requirements Associates or technical school degree. 5+ years experience in civil/transportation design with CAD programs. Prior structural engineering CAD related project experience a plus. Knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation and Microsoft Office software required. Civil 3D and/or Geopak experience is desirable. Requires a good working knowledge of CAD, construction documents and technical knowledge. Excellent oral and written communication and documentation skills are essential.
